This artwork is by Juan
Sanchez Cotan and it’s called “Still Life with Game, Vegetables and Fruit” made
in 1602. The artwork is basically some fruits and vegetables all around each
other with a black back ground and they look like they’re in a box, table, or
shelf. There are some things hanging and some things laying on the table and
they’re not separated their clustered and close to each other. This drawing
really isn’t very colorful it has very sad dark colors.
With the color its dark
colors and makes the drawing look sad and kind of boring it’s not colorful the
background of the artwork is black and makes the drawing very depressing in my
opinion. The shape it has a lot of shapes with the apples the carrots, lemon,
and so on. With the texture of the artwork you can really see and feel the
texture in the fruits and vegetables. I don’t really see or thinks there’s a
pattern in the artwork.
I don’t know if the
artwork has a meaning behind it, but I do think the artist is expressing
sadness, depression, or just some sad type of mood. Because of the color he
uses in the drawing it’s very dark and makes it seem very sad also with the
fruits when he colored the lemon he didn’t use a bright yellow he used more of
a dark yellow. And in the place, he drew it, it looks like he drew them in a
dark place not out in the open.
My opinion of this
artwork is even though it seems very sad and has dark colors I like it. I
learned that through artwork you can express the way you’re feeling, your mood,
or you can just tell a story through your artwork. I don’t really think I’m
moved by the artwork but I really do like it.
